Christ Alone Is Our Savior

I Corinthians 1:30

Paul here states three aspects of gospel truth he constantly preached to men.In this day, when sinners are being told by preachers everywhere that salvation is determined by the will, works, and worth of man, God's servants must clearly and constantly declare that...

SALVATION IS BEING IN CHRIST. "Of him are ye in Christ Jesus." Salvation is not in the church, in doctrine, in a profession of faith, or in saying the sinner's prayer. Salvation is being in Christ, as branches are in the vine, as limbs are in the body. In the last day, unless you are found in Christ, you will be found in hell!

THE ONLY WAY ANY SINNER CAN GET IN CHRIST IS IF GOD HIMSELF PUTS HIM THERE. "Of him are ye in Christ." No man can put himself in Christ. That is the doing of the Almighty. If I am in Christ, I am in him by the purpose of God in sovereign election and predestination (Eph. 1:4-6) and by the power of God in regeneration.

AND ALL WHO ARE IN CHRIST POSSESS IN HIM ALL THAT IS REQUIRED FOR EVERLASTING SALVATION. He is "made of God unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption". Christ is our WISDOM. He was wisdom for us representatively, speaking for us in the covenant of grace before the world began. He is the revelation of all the wisdom of God.And he gives us wisdom in this world. Christ is our RIGHTEOUSNESS. He obeyed the law for us;and his obedience to God has been imputed to us in our free justification by God.We who believe have been "made the righteousness of God in him." Christ is our SANCTIFICATION. In regeneration, his holy nature has been imparted to every believer. And Christ is our REDEMPTION. He paid the price and redeemed all the elect from the curse of the law by dying in our place. He sent his Spirit to redeem us from the power of sin in the effectual call. And at the hour appointed, our Savior shall redeem us from the body of sin by the resurrection. Because salvation is God's work alone, it is written, "He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord."
