As soon as a sinner believes

In Christ’s atoning blood,

Pardon and righteousness are his -

Free gifts of grace from God.

The faith that brings us to the Lamb

Is something that God gives,

(Not a decision made by man),

The Spirit’s gift it is.

This faith will conquer death and hell,

And vanquish earthly care,

And what is stranger yet to tell -

It moves God’s arm by prayer!

Faith brings us vile worms of the dust,

Knowing our guilt and sin,

To hope God’s forgiveness is just

And His love without end!
