The Merits of His Blood — Don Fortner

1. Ordained of God, eternally, Christ as our Sur’ty stood,

The great High Priest of His elect, presenting precious blood.

2. He wears the names of His elect upon His sacred breast,

Presents His blood within the veil and says, “I paid their debt.”

3. Here, in His house, our Savior meets the objects of His grace. —

In Him, the Mercy-Seat divine, we see Jehovah’s face!

4. The merits of His blood ascend, like incense to the throne;

And His atoning sacrifice brings full salvation down.
