1 If we to Sinai turn

We’re justly filled with dread.

God’s holy law, unbending, stern

Strikes every sinner dead!

2. But when by faith (What grace!)

We look to Christ alone,

From endless wrath to endless bliss

We’re raised with God’s own Son!

3. When faith beholds God’s Lamb,

Our sin-atoning Priest,

It honors all God’s holy name,

And in the Son finds rest.

4. Thank God, thank God for faith—

The gift and work of grace!

It triumphs over sin and death,

And with Christ lives in peace!
