The biblical doctrine of limited atonement is particular, effectual redemption. Christ died for his sheep, GodÕs elect. The Son of God was stricken by the rod of divine justice for the transgressions of his people (Isaiah 53:8). Having satisfied the justice of God for his elect, the Lord Jesus Christ effectually accomplished and obtained eternal redemption for all for whom he died (Hebrews 9:12).

To Know the Love of Christ — Don Fortner (Tune: #497 — When I Can Read My Title Clear— CM)
1. How blessÕd are they who know the love Which moved the Son of God To undertake their cause above, And ransom them with blood!
2. Its length and breadth, its depth, and height, Surpass all human thought; Its sovÕreign acts, its conquering might, Are by His Spirit taught.
3. O God, my God, I long to know My dear RedeemerÕs love: — His covÕnant bonds! — His work below! — His deeds of grace above!
4. It is eternal, matchless, free, Immutable, and strong! I know it, for it conquered me; And now it is my song!
ÒOne of the clearest evidences of divine inspiration is this fact: Those men who were inspired to write the Scriptures did not hide the sins and awful failures of the greatest examples of faith and godliness. Noah, Abraham, David and Peter were all men of great faith, but we also read of their falls.Ó — Pastor Eric Richards
The Message 1 Corinthians 2:2
If we have not yet learned that Jesus Christ and him crucified is the foundation, essence, and fulness of all divine truth, if we have not yet learned that the message of the Bible and the hope of the Gospel is Christ and him crucified, then we have read the Word of God with no profit to our souls, our religion is a vain show, and we are yet without hope before God. What knowledge we have of this Sacred Book will only add to our condemnation in the Day of Judgment!
Useless Religion Without Christ and him crucified our religion is as useless as a bucket without a bottom. Without Christ and him crucified we have no forgiveness of sin, no comfort in trouble, no strength in trial, no atonement, peace, or reconciliation with God, no hope in death, no access to God, and no door of entrance into heaven. Do you understand this? — ÒChrist is all.Ó — Without Christ we are nothing, we have nothing, we can do nothing (1 Corinthians 1:30-31).
In Christ All that God has for guilty sinners is in Christ, only in Christ (Colossians 2:9-10; John 3:35-36). The love of God is in Christ. The mercy of God is in Christ. The grace of God is in Christ. Without Christ there is no mercy, love, and grace, but only wrath, judgment, and condemnation. When the flood came, there was no mercy and deliverance anywhere, but in the ark. That ark was Christ. When the man-slayer fled from the avenger of blood, he found no safety until he entered the City of Refuge. That City of Refuge was Christ. God said to Israel, ÒI will meet with thee (upon) the mercy-seat, between the two cherubimÓ (Exodus 25:22). Christ is our Mercy-Seat. God meets sinners nowhere else but in Christ.
Christ Praised Among the untold millions of the redeemed in heaven, there shall not be found a single voice that shall not sing the praises of Christ, the Lamb of God and the Lion of Judah. Yonder in Glory Land Christ alone is praised. There ransomed sinners sing, ÒThou art worthy, for thou wast slain and hast redeemed us to God by thy bloodÓ (Revelation 5:9). To him alone every knee shall bow. To him every tongue shall confess. There they only sing of grace. There are no off key, sour notes of freewill/works religion. I sincerely hope you understand what I am saying. The message of this Book is Jesus Christ and him crucified. All things are Òin Christ!Ó In this first chapter of PaulÕs letter to the Ephesians, he uses the words Òin Christ,Ó or their equivalent, fourteen times. He means for us to understand that all grace, all salvation, all blessedness is Òin Christ.Ó All that the triune God has done for us, all that he gives to sinners, and all that he requires of sinners is in Christ. The Triune Jehovah has made us Òaccepted in the Beloved!Ó How I love those words. — ÒIn the BelovedÓ I am accepted! Rejoice, O my soul!
All Blessings in Christ Ephesians 1:3 Pastor Donnie Bell
The Holy Spirit uses this phrase over and over again Òin Christ.Ó The whole of the Word of God reveals the Lord Jesus and his accomplished salvation. The whole of GodÕs Word teaches us what we have Òin Christ.Ó When Our Lord Jesus Christ says, Òcome unto me, and you shall find rest for your souls,Ó he is telling us there is no other place other than in him. ÒIn ChristÓ is there rest for a soul, rest from the guilt and power of sin. When Christ said; Òcome unto me,Ó he didnÕt say come to a particular position on doctrine, come to election, or come to imputed righteousness, he didnÕt say come to total depravity, or to GodÕs sovereignty, he told sinners to come unto him! Why? Because when sinners come to Christ they receive all that he did in his work and all that he is in his person. We were chosen in him and accepted in him. Redemption is through his blood. We obtained an inheritance in him. We were quickened together with him, raised up to sit together in heavenly places in him. The long and the short of it, beloved, is that if we have Christ we have all we need. We have it where it counts: before God Almighty who demands perfection. Blessed be his name he provided us perfection Òin Christ.Ó — ÒAnd ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and powerÓ. We need righteousness. — Christ is our righteousness. We need wisdom. — Christ is our wisdom. We need sanctification. — Christ is our sanctification. We need redemption; and Christ is our redemption. God made him so unto us (1Corinthians 1:30). Christ said, Òcome unto me.Ó In coming to him you will have all that is in him and you will spend the rest of your life learning about all you have in him.
We say with confidence and positiveness: ÒGod must be just;Ó but we cannot say with any certainty or confidence at all: ÒGod must be merciful.Ó The divine mercy is an attribute which is perfectly free and optional in its exercises, and therefore we cannot tell beforehand whether it will or will not be shown to transgressors. We know nothing at all about it until we hear some word from the lips of God himself upon the point. — ÒI will have mercy on whom I will have mercyÓ (Romans 9:15). — W.G.T. Shedd
ÒSometimes the Lord visits his people in prosperity, sometimes in poverty, sometimes in joy, sometimes in sorrow, sometimes in success, and sometimes in great disappointment. These are all times of testing and come under one heading, Ôthe trial of your faith.Õ How we conduct ourselves under these different times of trial will determine whether those who observe us will (1) glorify God or (2) laugh at our profession! The natural man (our neighbors, family, and fellow-workers) are opposed to the Gospel of God's sovereign grace and speak against it. Yet, when real trial and examination is put upon us and we are able to conduct ourselves in an honest, righteous, and loving manner, they must admit that we are different and that the grace of God has given us something which they would like to have. ÔLet your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heavenÕ (Matthew 5: 16).Ó — Pastor Henry Mahan
