The most blasphemous, God dishonoring, Christ denying doctrine ever proclaimed by men who claim to believe the Bible and claim to believe God is the doctrine of universal atonement, the doctrine that Jesus Christ died for, but failed to redeem and save the multitudes of the damned in hell!

OUR GOD IS ALWAYS NEAR — Don Fortner

(Tune: Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed?      #110 CM)

v

1.    GodÕs omnipresence we adore,

       Our Lord is everywhere;

       A God at hand to guard His own,

       Our God is always near.

2.     Through the deep waters we must pass

        And heavy burdens bear,

       Through fiery trials we must go,

       But God is always near!

3.     Though Satan tempts and torments us

       With every subtle snare

       And wicked men oppose our faith,

       Our God is always near!

4.     Our foes cannot escape His arm,

       Nor we escape His care,

       And troubles cannot do us harm,

       Since God is always near.

5.     GodÕs omnipresence gives us peace

       And fills our hearts with cheer;

       He will sustain our souls with grace;

       Our God is always near!

The Breaker

ÒThe breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.Ó (Micah 2:13)

            When prophesying of His coming, Micah, writing by inspiration of God the Holy Spirit, called the Lord Jesus Christ ÒThe Breaker.Ó Has He broken you? You will never know Him as your Savior until you know Him as the Breaker.

            The almighty Breaker of men is God our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He came up as the Breaker from everlasting. In the council of peace, the divine decree was broken open and the Son of God stood forth as the Surety of GodÕs elect. He it was who alone was found worthy to take the book of GodÕs eternal purpose out of the hand of Him that sat upon the throne. Christ alone, as the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world, is worthy and able to loose the seals of the book, break it open, and fulfill its decrees.

            It was this same Holy One, our Lord Jesus Christ, who, when He found it written of him in the volume of His FatherÕs book (The Book of His Decrees and The Book of Inspiration) that He should fulfill the law of the Lord for chosen sinners, cried out, ÒLo, I come. I delight to do thy will, O God.Ó

            In the fulness of time our all-glorious Christ came up as a Breaker in this world to break down the wall of separation between God and His chosen people, to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself, and to open, by His precious shed blood, a new and living way, by which sinners might draw near to God with full assurance of acceptance, upon the basis of pardoned sin. Our Lord Jesus, by His one great sacrifice, forever put away all the sins of His people, forever silenced the accusations of Satan, forever freed us from the curse and penalty of GodÕs holy law, and forever justified and sanctified every sinner for whom He bled and died. This great work He did by himself alone, when He who knew no sin was made to be sin for us!

            After He lay in the grave for three days, the almighty Breaker came forth from the dead, bursting asunder the bars of death. Triumphant over death, hell, and the grave, He proved Himself to be the Breaker spoken of by the prophet Micah, passing through the gate before us as our great Head, Representative, Lord, and King. It was not possible that death could hold Him. His holy soul must not and could not see corruption. Therefore the almighty Breaker broke through all the obstacles before Him as our Representative, ascended up on high, led captivity captive, and entered into heaven having obtained eternal redemption for us! There He sat down upon His throne, took possession of heaven as our Forerunner, and ever lives to make intercession for us according to the will of God.

            At the appointed time, in Òthe time of loveÓ appointed by God the Father for the  regeneration,  effectual  calling, and conversion of our souls, the Lord Jesus,

11

by His sovereign Holy Spirit, came as the almighty Breaker in all the glorious force and power of His irresistible grace into our hearts. He did not stand outside our heartsÕ doors and meekly knock, hoping and pleading that we might, by the mere exercise of our wills, let Him in. Had He done so, we would yet be without life before God. This almighty, saving, gracious, effectual Breaker broke into our hearts and took possession of our souls. When He came in, He brought his welcome with Him, causing us to cry, ÒCome in! Come in Lord Jesus! Come, reign in me forever.Ó Oh, may this great, saving Breaker break into your soul this day by His all-saving power and grace!

My Heart is Fixed

ÒMy heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.Ó                                                                                                                                    (Psalm 57:7)

It is good to be able to say with David, that Òmy heart is fixed.Ó There are many who could never truly be described by the word Òfixed.Ó They are continually changing or, as the Scripture says, Òcarried about with every wind of doctrine.Ó The apostle Paul tells us that one purpose of the Christian ministry is to do this very thing. In preaching the gospel, we edify or build-up the saints of God so that we will all have a fixed heart.

Is your heart fixed in the knowledge that God is sovereign? We are not able to explain everything that happens in this world, but we do know for sure who is in control. Is your heart fixed in the knowledge of GodÕs sovereign grace? — That God has blessed a people with all spiritual blessings in Christ before the world began, and that he has predestinated us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ? It is not good or merit in any man that allows God to save sinners, but only the redemption that he wrought in his Son?

Is your heart fixed in the knowledge that all that the Father gave to Christ shall come to him and be eternally saved? Is your heart fixed in the knowledge that you have come to Christ? — No matter what some say or think, that you have found Christ to be precious to you?

Is your heart fixed on Christ as being the only Mediator between God and men, and say with the hymn writer, ÒOther refuge have I none?Ó If your heart is fixed, then determine by the grace of God that you will join with David and sing and give praise. ÒFor of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. AmenÓ (Romans 11:36).
