"THE LORD LOOKETH ON THE HEART"

I Samuel 16:7

God pays no attention to our outward deeds. These things impress men and win their applause. But God looks to the desires, the motives, the principles, and the attitude of the heart. "The Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts."

When the Lord looked into David's heart, he saw a heart broken over sin, humbled before the knowledge of God's glory, and full of faith in Christ. He saw in David a submissive, believing, and obedient heart. It is true, the Lord gave David this heart. But, nonetheless, David was a man after God's own heart.

I ask myself this question, when the Lord God looks beyond our outward deeds, when he looks upon your heart and mine, WHAT DOES HE SEE?
