THE INDENTIFICATION OF LOVE
God is independent, self-sufficient, and
self-satisfied. That is to say, he has no need of us, or of any of his
creatures. Yet, the love of the eternal God for us is so great that he has
identified himself with our welfare. By. his own voluntary and deliberate choice, the God of heaven
has conditioned his own satisfaction and glory upon the eternal salvation of
his people. That is a staggering thought. But it is blessedly true!
l. There is joy in the presence of the angels of heaven when
one sinner repents (Lk.15:l0).
2.The Lord God will be full of
exceeding joy when he presents us faultless before the presence of his glory at
the last day (Jude 24).
3.The church is the fulness of him
that filleth all in all. Were it not written in the Book of God, we could not
believe it, and I dare not say it. But it is written for all to read
(Eph.l:23). God our Savior, who fills all things, will not count himself full
and complete until all his redeemed members are with him in glory!
'Til all the ransomed
Be saved to sin no more.
The joy of the father is the joy of his son. The
happiness of a husband is the happiness of his wife. This is the identification
of love. And God Almighty has so completely identified himself with us that his
happiness and glory are depend-upon the happiness and glory of his elect ! We may therefore be sure that he will not allow us
to perish!
