DESIRES FOR HEAVEN
Everyone desires to go to
heaven when they die. But there is a great difference between the desire of the
true believer and the desire of the worldly religionist. The believer prizes
heaven above the earth. He would rather be with Christ in heaven than be upon
the earth. He lives for and seeks after heaven, where his life is hid with
Christ in God. He delights to live here for Christ; but he prefers to depart
and live with Christ. The worldly religionist also has a desire for heaven; but
his is a carnal desire. To him there is really nothing more desirable than this
world. If he could, he would live for ever in this world. He loves this world,
lives for this world, seeks after this world, and clings to this world. He
prefers heaven to hell; but he does not prefer heaven to earth. And you may be
sure of this - Those who love this world will perish with this world!
