We do not have altar calls
and invitations as other churches, because these are only tricks of Satan by
which unsuspecting souls are deceived with false religion. No-one was ever
saved by walking a church aisle, kneeling at an altar, or repeating "the
sinner's prayer". Salvation is the work of God in a man's heart, not
something the sinner does at the close of a service. Yet, if the Lord has saved
you, if he has revealed Christ in your heart, if he has taught you the gospel,
you must confess Christ publicly. In order to confess Christ, you do not need
to say a word. The believer's public confession of faith is baptism. By baptism
the believer says, "I take Christ as my Lord and bow to his command. I
here and now renounce myself, take up my Master's cross, and follow him in the
newness of life. As my Lord was crucified for me, I was crucified in him. As he
arose from the grave, I have risen with him. Now I am dead to the world and
live unto him who loved me and gave himself for me. Symbolically, I am now
buried with Christ in the watery grave of baptism; and as I rise up out of the
water, I confess that I am a new creature in Christ by the grace of God."
I urge you to so confess Christ today, if he has saved you. Let us rejoice with
you in the grace of God.
