1jo 02v01 We Have An Advocate

"WE HAVE AN ADVOCATE!"     I John 2:1

Child of God, do not sin. If you have been redeemed by the blood of Christ, regenerated by the power of the Holy Spirit, and saved by Divine grace, you must surely hate sin. If you had the desire of your inmost heart, you would never sin against the Lord again, in thought or in deed. But, as surely as you draw another breath, you will sin. The flesh is still with you. You will never be free from the old man of sin until he is laid in the grave. The children of God in this world are still sinners. "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

But when you do sin, do not despair. There is a word of comfort here for God's sinning people - "WE HAVE AN ADVOCATE" Our sins can never deprive us of our saving interest in Christ! He is an Advocate with the Father for us. As a matter of strict justice, he pleads for the non-imputation of sin to us, pointing to his five wounds received at Calvary. He fully paid the penalty due unto our sins; and the Judge of all the earth is satisfied with his payment, so satisfied that he will not and, in justice, cannot charge those with sin for whom Jesus Christ is an Advocate. "Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin!"
