"Glory!"
Hebrews 2:9
God is "bringing many sons unto
glory." This is the great work which he undertook before the world began,
the work to which he has attached the honor of his name, the work which he will
accomplish (Rom. 8:28-30).
Everything God does, has done, or shall hereafter do, everything God permits,
has permitted, or shall hereafter permit, is subservient to this great work. He
is "bringing many sons unto glory!"
Notice the Apostle's use of that word
"glory." He uses it interchangeably with the word "heaven".
He makes the two terms synonymous. He calls heaven "glory" because...
HEAVEN IS A GLORIOUS PLACE. We preach
about it, sing about it, and write about it, but we really know very little
about heaven. "As it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither
have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them
that love him" (I Cor. 2:9). We will never know the glory of glory until
we are in glory.
HEAVEN IS A PLACE OF GLORIOUS PURSUITS (Rev. 22:3-4). There
all the redeemed cast their crowns at the Redeemer's feet. They sing his
praise, adore his grace, look on his face, and make known to principalities and
powers the manifold wisdom of God in redemption by
Christ.
HEAVEN IS A PLACE INHABITED BY GLORIOUS
PERSONS (Heb.12:22-24).God is there,Father,Son and
Holy Spirit. Christ, the Lamb, in whom God is revealed and known, is there. All
the holy angels are there. All God's elect will be there justified and made
perfect in Christ!
HEAVEN IS A PLACE OF GLORIOUS PLEASURE (Psa. 16:11). There we shall enter into "the joy
of the Lord" (Matt. 25:21). "I reckon that the sufferings of this
present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be
revealed in us" (Rom. 8:18). "One breath of Paradise will extinguish all the adverse winds of
earth" (A. W. Pink). Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. Someone
said, "Joy is the serious business of heaven!" There are no regrets
in glory, no remorseful tears,no second thoughts, no
lost causes, no sorrows of any kind!"God shall wipe away all tears from
their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying,
neither shall there be anymore pain: FOR THE FORMER THINGS ARE PASSED
AWAY" (Rev. 21:4).
