luk 07v14 Young Man I say unto Thee Arise
Our Lord spoke to this dead
man as though he were alive. He did not wait for signs of life to appear. He
simply commanded the dead to "Arise". This is the New Testament way
of preaching the gospel. We call upon men and women to believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ, even though we know that they are dead in trespasses and sins,
and that faith is the gift of the operation of God. We preach the gospel,
telling dead sinners to believe on Christ, and the power of God goes with the
Word of God, and God's elect do believe. It is by this word of faith which we
preach that the voice of Christ sounds out to men. The young man who could not
hear and could not arise, because he was dead, nevertheless did hear and did
arise, when the Son of God called him. Even so, when the Lord Jesus Christ
speaks by his servants the gospel command "Believe and live" is
obeyed, and dead men live! Therefore we preach the gospel freely to all men,
saying, "Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ
shall give thee light."
