jer 08v20 The Harvest is Past The Summer Ended and We Are Not Saved
"THE HARVEST IS PAST, THE SUMMER" IS ENDED, AND WE ARE NOT SAVED." Jeremiah 8:20
Is this your sad condition?
Another year has been spent running from God, in rebellion to Christ. Three
hundred and sixty five days of grace have been mockingly despised. You have
been warned of God's impending judgment. The way of life has been clearly set
before you. Yet, you are not saved. The gospel of the grace of God has been
preached in your hearing in the power of the Spirit. Christ has been evidently
set before you, in the glory of his all-sufficient, substitutionary work. You
know his rightful claims upon you as Lord. Yet, you are not saved. How long do
you think God will tolerate your willful unbelief? How many more years do you
expect to live upon God's earth, robbing him of his glory and mocking his
grace? How many more days? Soon you will draw your last breath. You will stand
before God in judgment. I am free of your blood. I have preached the gospel to
you. Yet, you are not saved. You are without excuse!
Will you ever be saved? The best means have failed to
impress you. The gospel of God's grace does not move you. The law of God does
not frighten you. The love of God in Christ does not influence your heart. Like
Felix, you await a more convenient season. How foolish your stubborn, hard
heart is! A more convenient season will never come. "Behold, now is the
accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." Yet, you are content
to go on without Christ, without God, without hope. You are content to remain
not saved! I fear for your immortal soul.
Suppose you should die unsaved, as it appears you will, no words can describe your terrible woe. You will be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord. Oh, may God awaken you! Be wise. Before this day is over, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, who is able to save to the uttermost, and be saved.
