A Satisfied Redeemer

"He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities." Isaiah 53:11

The prophet tells us that the Lord Jesus Christ, by bearing the iniquities of his people, would surely justify them. It is not possible that one of that multitude of sinners whose iniquities were imputed to Christ would not be justified. Otherwise, it would never, come to pass that he would be satisfied.

There are many who take issue with us, because of our insistence upon particular redemption. But they fail to understand that Substitution demands a Particular Redemption. Redemption is a matter of divine justice! God's holy law requires death, because of sin. "The soul that sinneth, it shell die." Now, our Lord Jesus Christ became the Substitute for sinners, bearing our sins before God's law and dying under its penalty in our place---He made an infinite satisfaction to divine justice as our Substitute. If you believe that Jesus Christ is truly God the Eternal Son, you cannot accept the possibility that he has failed in his work --- If he tried to satisfy justice, justice is satisfied. If he tried to put away sin, sin is put away. In order for a man to deny Substitution, particular redemption, and hold to a universal atonement, he must concede one of two alternatives. Either the Son of God failed his work, or all men will be saved. The first is blasphemy! The other is equally untrue.

We insist, according to Scripture, that every soul for whom Jesus Christ stood as a Substitute, before God's holy law, is redeemed by him. The cross of Christ shall never be discovered a miscarriage. All of those for whom our Lord suffered the awful travail of death shall see life. The Son of God is A Satisfied Redeemer!

To deny this is not to deny a point of doctrine, it is to deny the fundamental foundation of the gospel---Substitution. Without Substitution the gospel is only good advice. But we have good news for perishing sinners. Christ has accomplished full redemption for every perishing sinner who will bow to him, believing the gospel and suing for mercy.
