"THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD."

Psalm 23:1

"The Lord is my Shepherd", not because of anything in me, or anything done by me, but because of his own sovereign choice and free love. He chose to be my Shepherd; and he chose me as one of his sheep. As my dear Shepherd he assumed the responsibility of my welfare in the everlasting covenant, he died in my place, and he reigns in heaven to secure my eternal salvation.

Knowing Christ as my Shepherd, I am assured of one blessed fact - "I shall not want." If Christ is my Shepherd, what good thing shall I lack? As a Shepherd he will lead me, protect me, and provide for me. And he will never lose one of his chosen, redeemed, called, and believing sheep. His promise is, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."
